NHTSA proposes to reinstate with modifications an information collection on retrofit air bag switches
Retrofit Air Bag Switches
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking comment on a proposed reinstatement with modifications of an information collection associated with the process of obtaining authorization for the installation of retrofit air bag switches.
The proposed collection of information includes a request form and an installation return form, which will be used to monitor the number of air bag switch installations performed and to determine whether dealers and repair businesses are complying with the terms of the exemption.
Comments must be submitted on or before August 20, 2026.
