Indiana Title 9 Art. 20: "A maximum overall length limit is not imposed on a truck-tractor-semi trailer combination." ⚠️ The 60 ft two-vehicle limit applies to NON-tractor combinations. Kingpin-to-rear-axle 43 ft on the state highway system for trailers over 48 ft 6 in.

Kingpin-to-axle 43 ft or less is a condition of the 53 ft trailer allowance.

Extreme-Load Escalation Triggers

This jurisdiction does not define a "superload" class. The figures below are triggers for other escalations — read the note beneath them before planning against these numbers.

Width over
15ft
Length over
150ft
Weight over
200,000 lbs

Indiana does not define a single numeric 'superload' in M-204. The heaviest/most-restricted category is loads over 16' wide, over 15' high, or over 200,000 lbs GVW, which are limited to Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and (over 200,000 lbs) require an Indiana State Police escort per M-204S special provisions.
